BraunMark
BraunMark is a pre-engineered bench system built for landscape architects who are tired of working around the furniture.
The system is pre-engineered. Every bench type, every frame, every anchoring condition: documented, dimensioned, and ready to specify. You bring the geometry. We bring a fabrication process that doesn’t require excessive back-and-forth to resolve.
Built to your dimensions. Curved to your radius. Detailed for your mounting condition.
Structure
Choose the Bench Type
Pre-engineered steel frames, brackets, and hardware. Specific to each mounting condition. Engineering limits documented; no per-project structural engineering required within published parameters.
Surface
Configure the Surface
Wood, board pattern, orientation, edge profile, layout, form, armrests, skirting. The full pattern library is available across most configurations. All decisions are yours.
The fabrication process is consistent and structured. Shop drawings come back ready because the engineering is already done. You’re configuring a resolved system, not waiting on one to be worked out.
SWB
The only bench in the system that mounts directly to a seatwall. When the wall is already part of the design or the existing site, the SWB mounts on top. The wall carries the structural load, with no legs, no independent footing, and no visual interference with the seatwall geometry. Straight and curved configurations follow the wall geometry without compromise.
CWB
Cantilever Wall-Mounted Bench
The CWB cantilevers from a concrete or CMU wall with no legs and no footing, producing a built-in appearance that reads as part of the architecture, one no catalog piece can match. Its minimal visual footprint works well in tight or high-traffic spaces. Available straight only; curved configurations are not supported by the bracket geometry.
GMB
Ground-Mounted Bench
The most versatile bench type. Works on an existing slab or embeds into a new footing; the above-grade frame stays the same either way, so the installation method becomes a site decision rather than a design decision. Straight or curved. The go-to when site conditions don’t include a seatwall or wall anchor point.
Once the bench type is set, four early decisions shape the surface. Each one gets you closer to a standard detail appropriate for the SD/DD phase. Armrests, edge detailing, and skirt options can be addressed early or left for CD phase project-specific detail.
Board Pattern
Layout
Form
Wood
Ten standard board patterns
A profile is the board cross-section. An orientation is how the boards run. Combine them and you get a pattern, the second field in every product code. Ten standard patterns cover the vast majority of projects; custom profiles are available on request.
Straight or curved, following site geometry.
All bench types are available in a straight layout. For curved benches, available bench types are SWB and GMB. Reference the BraunMark Product & Specification Guide for complete detail.
Backless, backed, or backrest only.
Backless bench options are the most versitle within the system. Backed or Backrest only options are more restricted to specific applications.
Ipe, Kebony, or Accoya.
The three woods available within the BraunMark system were selected for optimal outdoor commercial performance. All three wood types are available across the entire BraunMark range.
Two Stages of Specification
BraunMark is built for how design actually works. Projects advance in phases and so does the level of detail within a BraunMark specification. The system has two stages, and both are designed to match where you are.
Early Specification · SD / DD Phase
Specify Early With a Code and Standard Detail
Select the bench type, board pattern, layout, form, and wood. That’s five decisions. You get back two things: a product code and a standard detail. The code is short enough to drop into your furniture schedule; the standard detail is ready to place in the set. Together they’re specific enough to establish a budget and communicate design intent to the project team.
You’re establishing intent, and you’re doing it with a detail already in hand. The position holds in the set while the project develops.
Full Specification · CD Phase
We Build the Project-Specific Detail at CDs.
At CDs, send us the specifics: dimensions, substrate and mounting conditions, edge profile, armrests. We develop the standard detail you’ve been holding into a project-specific sheet built around your design. Your spec note references the code and the final detail number, and the bench is ready to build.
The wood is where BraunMark separates from anything in a standard site furniture catalog. All three options are selected for outdoor commercial performance and long-term appearance.
Ipe
The Benchmark Tropical Hardwood
Dense tropical hardwood. The most proven and widely specified outdoor commercial wood. Deep warm brown tone. Slowest of the three to silver.
Kebony
Dually Modified Radiata Pine
Sustainably sourced softwood, chemically modified to hardwood-level performance. Lighter than Ipe with a rich warm brown tone and uniform grain.
Accoya
Acetylated Radiata Pine
Acetylated softwood, exceptional dimensional stability and finish retention. Light, natural tone. Lightest weight of the three.

| Catalog | BraunMark | Full Custom | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sizes & Shapes | Fixed catalog options | Configured per project within engineered limits | Anything |
| Design Flexibility | Little | Full freedom within the system | Complete |
| Coordination Effort | Low | Minimal | High |
| Lead Time | Varies | Faster than full custom | Unpredictable |
| Cost | Lower (different product class) | Materially lower than full custom | Highest |
Savings come from fabrication and coordination efficiency, not reduced quality. Same materials, same engineering, same finishing as fully custom.
The BraunMark Product & Specification Guide gives you:
We built BraunMark for landscape architects who are done choosing between a catalog that doesn’t fit and a custom process that costs more than it should. Send us a project — we’ll confirm fit, provide the detail, and be there through installation. The system handles the engineering. We handle the documentation. You design it.
